I am certainly looking forward to going to Dayton now. I know for a fact that there is one person there waiting for me, Mary. Hi Mary!
I just returned from the first ever Carmel Writers Conference which was a big success. I love discovering new writers at these events. This time, it was the poet James Ragan. LOVED him. I also heard Irshad Manji for the first time. That’s one bold chick.
If you ever have a chance to attend a writers conference, go! Your really do leave feeling smarter.
I leave for Wisconsin next week. I will be speaking at the university in Madison. (Have I mentioned that I love Wisconsin extra sharp cheddar?) You know what will be in my suitcase on the way back…
I will also be going to Iowa. More on that later. In the meantime, keep reading! I’m in the middle of a book by Lolly Winston. Wish I had more time to read.

How exciting for the Dayton area to contemplate an author visit from you. The Big Read in Dayton is in it’s fourth year with the pick of your book. Persoanlly I enjoyed the book immensely, but i am a sucker for a good feeling “laugh out loud” book.

I’d like to start my paragraph by saying:”Hi there Firoozeh joonam”
I am an Iranian girl who recently got married to a wonderful Turkish man…for our honey moon we traveled to Turkey to see his family and believe me even though Iran & Turkey are neighbors ,but you don’t feel close to them at all!
They asked so many questioned about Iran & our ceremonies but I was unable to answer them in a way to show them how exactly I feel about Iran, our heritage & my loving family.
Then my sister sent a precious book to me(Funny in Farsi). From now on,not only am I able to explain my country well but also am so proud to give them an excellent resource to refer to.
I love “Me and Bob Hope”chapter & admire the way you wrote about our Nowrooz especially the paragraph you with your “Gone were…” sentences.
I enjoyed each & every word about your AQD & it’s sofreh, especially the part about those fake golden coins! I have no idea how you felt after so many coins & NOGHL s…they gave me a bad headache for all night long.
I did laugh out loud after the part about the first class to Japan since I’ve seen so many of our countrymen & women who are doing that in each flight.
We are living in Aberdeen,Scotland right now & I don’t know if I’ve ever got a chance to see you but what I really want to say to you is:”I love your book ,I love you & everything about your character & physics especially your beautiful- Natural nose.”

Thank you Chista! I can’t believe my nose has received ANOTHER fan email.
If I ever make it to Scotland, I will come over for some haggis, or maybe just Persian food. I wish you the best in your marriage. Thank you for your sweet email!
Best,
Firoozeh (and her nose)

We are getting ready for your visit to Dayton for the Big Read. We’ve purchased over 300 copies of Funny in Farsi for our 22 branches at the Dayton Metro Library. Is there any chance that the book will be available in large print or audio form for library users? We have already had people asking about this. There are already constant reserves on the copies of Funny in Farsi we have purchased for your visit in the spring.

Thank you Jean! I am looking forward to coming to Dayton.
FIF is available as an audio download through audible.com. You can also access it through Amazon.com.
I will ask my publisher about the large print.
Make sure every citizen of Dayton reads FIF before I come, okay? I will be quizzing people.
Best,
Firoozeh

Hi, Firoozeh. We’re using FUNNY IN FARSI for our Big Read in the Greene County Library System (near Dayton), too, and we will be publicizing your Dayton visit for our patrons.
I’m happy to be able to recommend your website as well. Best wishes for juggling motherhood and authorhood - book tour city!
Sincerely,

Hi Carolion,
Thank you to Greene County! I hope many of your patrons can come to my talk in Dayton. I have no idea where I am speaking in Dayton but I hope it’s big enough to fit everyone who wants to come.
Looking forward to coming to Ohio and remember: keep reading!
Best,
Firoozeh
