Thank you to everyone who has joined the blog. I thought I was going to have to beg my relatives to write stuff but fortunately, real people not related to me have written!
I just found out that the good folks in Dayton Ohio have selected FUNNY IN FARSI for their community read. I love Ohio!

Hello Firoozeh,
I just finished reading your book. It was amazing, and soo funny !! I read it on my way to work, and you should have seen the random looks I got from people on the bus !! I could completely relate to your story, being a first generation immigrant myself.(If you read the my blog URL , you will know what I am talking about !)
I am looking forward to your future work.
Regards,
Sang

Thanks Sang. Maybe I should pay you to ride buses while reading my book…hmmm, now that’s a fresh marketing idea.

Hello!
I just had to leave you a comment about how much I loved “Funny In Farsi.” I work at a bookstore and your book caught my eye, so I bought it Sunday, started it yesterday and finished it today! I am ashamed to admit I even skipped my French class to finish reading.
It was incredibly funny and relatable. One of my passions is learning of all different cultures and your book was not only insightful about Persian culture but also about the human race in general.
I actually live in Dayton, Ohio (well actually a suburb right outside) but I was curious as to if you plan on visiting to speak about “Funny In Farsi?” If so, I will definately be there! And I’m glad somebody loves Ohio!

HI Natalie!
Let’s hope your French teacher is not reading your blog!
I don’t know anything yet about the plans for Dayton Reads. I found out about it on the internet so I’m still waiting to be contacted by someone from the lovely town of Dayton.
I assume I will be coming out there since that’s usually one of the components of these community read programs. I expect you to be there along with everyone you have ever known. I want crowds. I want riots. I want people chanting my name. So go start practicing now…Fee-roo- zay, Fee-roo-zay.

Hello,
I am very excited to find this blog. I am using your book in my advanced ESL writing and reading course at West Los Angeles College in Culver City, California. The students are reading, laughing and LOVING your book. You are an inspiration!
I loved the book too, of course.
We would love to see have you visit our college one day. It would be our honor.
Sincerely,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
I would love to visit your school!
I know a lot of ESL teachers who use FIF in the classroom. I hope your students are inspired to write their own stories and share them with the class. Everybody has a story and immigrants have a few extras!
Best,
Firoozeh

Hi Firoozeh,
I just finished your book this morning. It was hilarious. I am a first generation American & I could totally relate to your experiences in learning the language & trying to fit in.
I am also from Dayton, Ohio and I would so like to see you. Let me know when your in town, I’ll be there with my “Big Sign”.
Sincerely,
Mary

Hello,
First of all i have to say that I absolutely love your book! I’ve read this book more than seven times and it still makes me laugh and people still look at me funny or turn around to see what’s so funny. It was so funny i would read the same sentence about five times!I first read this book for my Reading 201 class my freshmen year and fell in love with it! The fact that you lived in Whittier made it even better just because I’m from Whittier. Now I’m reading it again for a paper I have to write and i am so excited! Thank you so much for writing Funny in Farsi!!!
P.S I have to say that your father was one of my favorites!

Seven times?!?! I’m impressed!
My father is visiting me and he just read your blog. He says that he appreciates that he is one of your favorites and that you are obviously quite astute.
I hope you will also enjoy LAUGHING WITHOUT AN ACCCENT…but you have to wait until May.
Keep reading and rereading!
Best,
Firoozeh
