Only two days left until LAUGHING WITHOUT AN ACCENT is released and I am NERVOUS! I leave for Bensenville, Illinois the same day so I will not be able to sit at my computer neurotically checking the Amazon rating and believe me, that is a good thing.
I have only read a few reviews on blogs and so far, they have been good. Having your book reviewed is not for the thin-skinned and I am thin-skinned! Of course these days, everyone with a computer is a reviewer which is both good and bad. So next time you see a good review of my book, think of me smiling and when you read a nasty review, cry with me, okay?
Thanks again to all my readers, without whom, none of this would be happening. I sincerely hope you all enjoy my next book. God bless you all. (And no, I am not referring to a specific God. Whatever works for you, be it Allah, Jesus, Buddha, Judy Garland,…)
xo,
Firoozeh

BEST OF LUCK ON YOUR TOUR! Unfortunately when you are in Concord as part of the authors for the reading festival ,I will miss seeing you.As I have visitors from Bombay India. And we go to Yosemite to celebrate my daughter turning 30.
I am half way thru reading Funny in Farsi.
And will place a hold on Laughing Without an accent.
I recommended your book to a lot of family and friends.I tell them you are Bill bryson for the Immigrants.Your book made me laugh in most parts but also tugged at my heart.
Can relate to it a lot-I came here in 1977 ,so I am a first generation immigrant.
I am also an on-call librarian at the Richmond Public Library. My daughter who is a News Director for a local Radio Station had heard about your book.
I gave it as a birthday gift to one of my friends.
Cheers

Firoozeh,
It was such a pleasure to recieve a prompt reply.I spoke to my manager at the Richmond Public Library. And we would love you to come for an author event at the library. We have many Farsi speaking people in our community we serve. Also she does remember meeting you.My question -do I have to go thru your agent ,if we need to book you or can we work with you directly. There is one more person who has to give us an okay and then we can proceed. In the meantime I am going to try to come and meet you at the Concord library.
I have already asked my library to add Laughing Without An Acccent to our collection.
All the best for the rest of your tour.

Thank you Tara!
I was just in Cincinatti and Columbus last week! I could’ve had Indian food, a place to stay AND had all my medical questions answered. Darn it!
I am speaking at the Cleveland Public Library in 2009. (It’s on my website.) Maybe you can come then?
My parents are visiting me and we just went out for Indian food today. My French husband and Iranian father absolutely love Indian food and they really bond over lamb vindaloo.
See you perhaps in 2009.
Best,

I am American-born, of European descent, and culturally American, but have duste azizam dar Iran. She and I “met” via a Web discussion group for a serious medical condition that we both have; we certainly have more important things to fight than each other.
Since “meeting” her, I have been trying to learn more about Persian culture and history. Prior to that, I was even misguided about what language is used in Iran!
Art can help strip away facades, showing people as people. Your books are no exception, and I thank you for writing them. I hope that you efforts help Iranian and American people and cultures come together.

What a sweet email! Thank you.
I compeletely agree with you about the power of art. I wish more people knew this.
I wish you all the best with your medical condition. That’s the one amazing thing about the internet…bringing strangers together for a common good. (Of course lots of bad uses for the internet also but we won’t go there!)
Best,
Firoozeh
