The year 2011 is almost here and I hope for good news! Less recession, fewer wars and more people buying books at independent bookstores. In the meantime, here is a piece I wrote for the NYTimes. You can cut and paste it to read it. Make sure you read the comments afterwards. Regarding comment #15…do you think I interrupted his KKK meeting?

Also, both of my books are now available in Indonesian. Indonesia is the only country so far to have bought the foreign rights to my books. (My books are available in Iran too but the rights were not purchased. That’s a whole other story. Refer to the first story in LAUGHING WITHOUT AN ACCENT for all the juicy details on that one.)
I actually have some Facebook friends now from Indonesia. I’m hoping my books become bestsellers there so I can go on a book tour. I’ve never been there but my bags are packed! A girl can always dream.
I wish you all a healthy and happy new year. Be kind and keep reading!
Best,
Firoozeh
