Hello and welcome to my website!

New Title!
In response to requests from my readers, I have much more information on this site, including a section for educators with a discussion guide that can also be used by book clubs. There are also a couple of humor sections from the New York Times and a piece about reluctant readers.

And of course a big thank you to all the readers out there in the United States, in Iran, and in other countries who have emailed me with your kind words. Thank you! Merci! Gracias! Dank! Tak! Grazie! Arigato!

Praise for Laughing Without an Accent

"These stories, like everything Firoozeh Dumas writes, are charming, highly amusing vignettes of family life. Dumas is one of those rare people--a natually gifted storyteller."

One of my fellow writers, Patry Francis, has a new paperback, The Liar’s Diary. In fact, her book just came out in paperback today, Jan. 29. Normally, she would be out there doing everything she can to sell her book. Unfortunately, she is ill and can not be out there so this is why I am telling you about her book. Check out her book and her website: www.patryfrancis.com

Get well soon Patry!

Hello everyone,

LAUGHING WITHOUT AN ACCENT will be in bookstores on April 29, 2008. You can already order it on the internet.

What do you think of the cover design? I love it. (I had nothing to do with it. Random House has its own designers.) The color is called “cinnamon.” I hope it’s as popular as those Cinnabons in airports. The book won’t smell like glaze though. (If you have walked through an American airport lately, you know what I’m talking about!)

First of all, I want to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year. Let us hope that 2008 brings more peace to our troubled planet. I wonder if there has ever been ONE day in the history of mankind when there has been no war. We should all visualize that.

Secondly, I am SO excited about going on my book tour in May and June. I will be visiting some places where I have never been. I know that for a lot of authors, book tours are a drag but meeting readers is what keeps me going. Writing is a lonely profession and I find it quite invigorating to meet those humans who actually read books. It reminds me why I do what I do.

Lastly, I want to thank all you of you for your support. I wouldn’t be here without you so THANK YOU!
